Coverage
Insurance Accepted
We accept all major insurance plans. Bring your card and we'll verify coverage on the spot — usually in under five minutes.
How we handle insurance at the counter
Bring your insurance card and a prescription. We verify your plan, pull up your formulary, identify your copay, and tell you the exact price before we fill anything. If your plan doesn't cover a medication, we walk you through the options — generic equivalents, therapeutic alternatives, manufacturer assistance, or cash with a discount card. You always know what you'll pay before you pay it.
What to bring
- Your insurance card (front and back)
- Your prescription (paper, e-script, or fax)
- A photo ID
- Any secondary insurance or Medicare/Medicaid card
- Discount cards like GoodRx or SingleCare — we'll quote the cheaper of the two
Insurance carriers we work with
We're in-network with the major Florida insurance carriers and their pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). Quick coverage notes per plan below — the full list of plans within each carrier is large, so when in doubt, call.
Aetna
Ambetter
AvMed
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Freedom Health
Health First
Humana
Molina Healthcare
Oscar
UnitedHealthcare
Aetna
Plans we accept: Aetna Commercial, Aetna Better Health (Medicaid Managed Care), Aetna Medicare Advantage, and SilverScript (Medicare Part D).
What to know: Most Aetna plans route through the CVS Caremark PBM, where we're in-network for all major formularies. Bring your Aetna ID card; if you have a separate Caremark prescription card, bring that too.
Ambetter
Plans we accept: Ambetter from Sunshine Health — marketplace (Healthcare.gov) plans available in all Florida counties.
What to know: Ambetter uses the Sunshine Health pharmacy network. We verify coverage and copay before filling — Marketplace plans often have tiered drug pricing, so it pays to ask first.
AvMed
Plans we accept: AvMed Empower (commercial), AvMed Medicare Choice, and AvMed individual market plans — Florida's homegrown nonprofit health plan.
What to know: AvMed is one of the most common South Florida employer plans. Bring your card — we can fill same-day on most formulary medications.
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Plans we accept: Florida Blue (BCBS of Florida) — BlueOptions, BlueSelect, BlueCare, BlueMedicare HMO/PPO, and BCBS plans from any state via the BlueCard program.
What to know: If you're visiting from another state with a BCBS card, BlueCard lets us bill your home plan. Just bring the card — the prefix (3 letters before your ID) tells us which state to route to.
Freedom Health
Plans we accept: Freedom Health Medicare Advantage and dual-eligible (D-SNP) plans — popular with Florida seniors, especially in South + Central Florida Latino communities.
What to know: Freedom Health plans often include over-the-counter benefits and pharmacy mail-order options. Ask us about your OTC allowance — we accept it in-store.
Health First
Plans we accept: Health First Health Plans — Florida-based HMO with Medicare Advantage and commercial offerings, primarily on the East Coast (Brevard, Indian River, and surrounding counties).
What to know: Less common in Broward and Miami-Dade, but if you've recently moved from the East Coast, we can confirm coverage at any of our three locations.
Humana
Plans we accept: Humana Commercial, Humana Choice / Gold Plus (Medicare Advantage), Humana Healthy Horizons (Florida Medicaid Managed Care), and Humana Walmart Value Rx Plan (Part D).
What to know: Humana is one of the largest Medicare plans in Florida — particularly strong in South Florida. Most maintenance medications come with $0 copays on preferred-tier generics.
Molina Healthcare
Plans we accept: Molina Healthcare of Florida — Medicaid Managed Care (MMA), Medicare-Medicaid plans (MMP / D-SNP), and Molina Marketplace plans.
What to know: Molina is one of the most common Florida Medicaid plans. We handle Medicaid prior authorizations in-house — no waiting on hold to figure out coverage.
Oscar
Plans we accept: Oscar Health — marketplace (ACA) plans in South + Central Florida, and Oscar Medicare Advantage in select counties.
What to know: Oscar's pharmacy network is built around CVS Caremark, so most members can fill at Pharm-Aid as in-network. The app makes copay lookups easy — bring your phone if you're not sure.
UnitedHealthcare
Plans we accept: UnitedHealthcare Commercial, AARP Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D (Walgreens / Preferred Saver), and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan (Florida Medicaid).
What to know: UHC uses OptumRx as its PBM. We're in-network for OptumRx commercial and Medicare Advantage formularies. The AARP-branded Part D plans can have surprising preferred-pharmacy savings — ask us before filling.
Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs)
Your insurance card's pharmacy benefit may be handled by a PBM that's separate from your insurance carrier (Caremark for Aetna, OptumRx for UnitedHealthcare, Express Scripts for Cigna, etc.). What matters for us is whether we're in-network with the PBM — and we are with all the major ones.
CVS Caremark
Express Scripts
Medco
CVS Caremark
If your insurance card says 'CVS Caremark' as the prescription benefit, we can fill — being in-network with the PBM is what matters, not the parent insurer.
Express Scripts
TRICARE pharmacy members (active military, retirees, families) can fill maintenance medications at Pharm-Aid through Express Scripts. We confirm eligibility at the counter.
Medco
If your card still says Medco, treat it as Express Scripts — coverage works the same way.
Insurance questions we hear most
What if my insurance doesn't cover my medication?
We'll show you three options before doing anything: (1) the generic equivalent (often a fraction of the brand price), (2) a therapeutic alternative your plan does cover, or (3) the cash price with a discount card. You decide. We never fill a medication without you knowing what you'll pay.
What's a prior authorization and how long does it take?
A prior authorization is a form your doctor sends to your insurance explaining why you need a specific medication. It usually takes 3-10 business days. We can fax the request from the counter and follow up on your behalf.
Do you take Medicaid?
Yes — we accept Florida Medicaid (straight Medicaid) and the major Managed Care plans: Sunshine Health, Molina, Simply, Humana Healthy Horizons, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, and Aetna Better Health.
Can I use my out-of-state insurance here?
Most plans work. BlueCard (BCBS from any state) and the national Medicare plans (Humana, UHC, Aetna, SilverScript) fill at standard in-network rates. State-specific Medicaid plans usually don't transfer, but bring your card and we'll check.
What if my insurance card and PBM card are different?
Bring both. The PBM card has the codes (RxBIN, RxPCN, RxGRP) that actually run the prescription. The medical card has your member ID and group number. We need both to file a clean claim.
Is GoodRx ever cheaper than my insurance?
Sometimes — especially on common generics. We always check both prices and quote you the lower one. No upcharge, no surprises.
Don't see your plan?
We work with most major insurance plans. Call us at any location and we'll confirm coverage in minutes.
